Privacy Policy

• Your email address (collected during checkout, via Stripe), so we can send your order confirmation, book-ready, and shipping updates, and so you can get back into your book later.
• Your dog’s profile (name, breed, personality traits, and your zip code). Your zip code is used only to generate a locale-specific adventure (nearby parks, local weather); your dog’s name, breed, and personality personalize the quiz-generated adventure and the AI narration.
• Your street address, only if you type it in. The quiz offers an optional street address so the day can start from your door instead of the center of your zip code. If you type one, it is sent to Google Maps Platform for address suggestions as you type and to turn the address you pick into map coordinates. We keep only approximate coordinates (rounded to about a city block) inside the adventure’s generation data; the address itself is not stored, and it is never printed in your book (neither are the coordinates).
• The photos you take during the adventure, used to build your book. An AI looks at each photo to write the narration and to run an automated safety screen before anything is printed (see “How we use your photos” below). We store them so we can produce your book and so you can come back and re-download it.
• Your end-of-day quiz answers, used as extra material for the AI narration (your favorite moment, funniest thing that happened, and so on).
• Your shipping address (collected during checkout, via Stripe, only if you order a physical book), sent to our print partner so they can ship your printed copy to you.
• The recipient’s email address and your gift note (only if you buy as a gift), used to send the recipient their own link to the adventure and deliver your note to them.
• The review you submit (a rating, optional written words, and an optional photo). If you attach a photo, an automated safety screen checks it before it can be shown. If we approve your review, we may display it publicly on the site.
• No account. There is nothing to sign up for. Every order works through a private, unguessable link. If we ever add optional sign-in, it would collect only the email address needed to find your past orders in one place, and we’d update this policy first.

• EXIF and GPS location data is stripped from every photo the moment it’s uploaded. We never see or store the precise location a photo was taken at.
• Your book uses fuzzy geography (“your favorite neighborhood park,” not a street address or a GPS pin). It does print the date of your adventure and your city and state on its opening page, the way a diary would. If you gave us a street address in the quiz, it is used only to plan the route; it is never printed, and only its approximate coordinates are kept.
• We do not run facial recognition on any photo, ever.
• We don’t print or share any other person’s name unless you type it in yourself, for example in a quiz answer.
• We never see or store your full card number. Checkout happens on Stripe’s own hosted payment page, so your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our systems. Because we never handle card data ourselves, we qualify for the simplest level of PCI compliance (“SAQ-A”). We’re not claiming any elevated security tier, we’re simply never touching the data. Stripe only tells us that a payment succeeded, not your card information.
• Your photos and finished book are stored using Vercel’s Blob storage, at unguessable links.

We work with a small number of outside services to actually run the product. Here’s exactly what each one receives:

• Stripe (payment processing): your email, payment details, and shipping address at checkout. Stripe holds your payment details, not us.
• Prodigi (our print-on-demand partner): your finished book file and your shipping address, so they can print and ship your physical book.
• Anthropic (Claude, our AI provider): your uploaded photos and quiz answers, to write your book’s narration and run a safety screen on each photo. Claude fetches each photo from its storage link rather than receiving a copy from us; the same applies to a review photo.
• Resend (our email provider): your email address and order status, to send you order-status emails.
• Google Maps Platform (address suggestions, geocoding, and nearby-place search): the street address you type in the quiz, as you type it, so it can suggest matches and turn the one you pick into coordinates; and the coordinates the adventure starts from (the center of your zip code, or your address if you gave one), so it can find dog-friendly places nearby. This is a separate Google service from Google Analytics below. It does not receive your name, email, photos, or dog’s profile. Google’s handling of it is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics (website analytics): anonymous usage and behavior data about how the site is used (pages viewed, buttons clicked, approximate region, device type). It does not receive your name, email, photos, or dog’s profile. See the “Cookies & analytics” section below for details and links to Google’s policies.
• OpenStreetMap and Open-Meteo (map and weather data sources, the map data via public OpenStreetMap query servers): the coordinates the adventure starts from, meaning the center of your zip code or, if you typed one, the location of your street address, plus a search radius, to look up nearby parks and local weather. We don’t send them your name, your photos, or any other personal detail.

We do not sell your personal information. Beyond the services listed above, each of which only gets what it needs to do its specific job, we don’t share your photos, quiz answers, or dog’s profile with anyone else.

To be plain about this: when you upload a photo, an AI model (Claude) looks at it for two reasons: to help write the dog’s-point-of-view narration in your book, and to run an automated safety screen that checks nothing unsafe or inappropriate ends up printed. That’s the extent of what happens to your photos beyond storing them so we can build and re-deliver your book.

We keep your photos and finished book so you can come back and re-download or reorder your book without redoing the adventure.

We keep your order and book until you ask us to delete them, or three years after your order, whichever comes first. After that, an automatic sweep removes your photos, book, and adventure (the dog details, the route, and your quiz answers) and strips your name, email, and addresses from the order. What remains is an anonymous payment record (the amount, the date, and Stripe’s payment reference), kept because accounting and any chargeback or refund dispute need it. When we delete at your request we also delete the customer profile Stripe kept for you, if one was created. Stripe keeps its own record of the payment, including the billing details on it, under its own privacy policy.

To delete sooner, email us at the address below and we’ll run exactly the same deletion by hand, promptly. Deleting also retires every link to your book, so save a copy first if you want one.

One thing we cannot reach from our side: your unfinished quiz answers stay in your own browser until you submit them; clearing your browser storage removes them.

The Goodest Day isn’t directed at children. It’s a purchase made by an adult dog owner (see “Who can use this” in our Terms of Service). We don’t knowingly collect information from children.

You can ask us what information we have about your order at any time, or ask us to delete it. Just email us. If you’re somewhere with additional legal privacy rights (for example under GDPR or CCPA), we’ll honor requests consistent with those laws.

We use two separate kinds of analytics, and we want to be clear about both: one is a standard third-party tool (Google Analytics), the other is our own minimal in-house counter.

Google Analytics (GA4). We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site: which pages they view, which buttons they click, roughly which region they’re visiting from, and what kind of device they’re on. To do that, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects usage and behavior data about your visit. That data is processed by Google, and we don’t control everything Google does with it. You can read Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services. We use it only to measure and improve the site. We don’t use it to build advertising profiles, and we never sell your data.

Our own first-party counter. Separately, we run simple, first-party, aggregate-only analytics so we can see things like how many people click Share or start the quiz, never anything about any individual visitor. Concretely: we count a few specific actions (like “Start” or “Share”) into a running daily total per action, and that total is all we ever keep. There’s no per-visitor record behind it.

• No cookies are set by our own first-party counter (unlike Google Analytics above, which does).
• No personal information is collected by it, not your name, email, or anything that identifies you.
• No IP address is ever stored by it. Your IP is used only for a moment, in memory, as a best-effort spam/flood guard on the counting endpoint itself. It is never written to a database, logged, or kept.

If we change what analytics we use (for example, add another provider), we’ll update this policy first.

We may update this policy as the product changes. We’ll update the “last updated” date above whenever we do.
